The UNC System Institutions is comprised of 17 public institutions within North Carolina. Minimum application requirements for these institutions is a 2.5 weighted GPA, a 1010 SAT score, and a 19 ACT score. However, SAT and ACT scores are optional for the 2020-2021 admissions round. Although there are minimum admissions eligibility requirements system wide, each institution has their own average admittance GPAs and scores. When looking at any UNC System school, take into account location, population, course of study, campus involvement, and admissions averages.

rockingham community college

Rockingham Community College is located in Wentworth, North Carolina. The mission of Rockingham Community College is to enhance individual and community success in Rockingham County through education as well as full development of human potential, employment assistance, service to business and industry, and contributions to cultural and social development. They are able to offer certificate programs, college transfer paths, Bachelor's degrees working with 4 year institutions, Associate's degrees, Diplomas, and online options.​

other north carolina institutions

There are 67 four-year institutions within North Carolina, ranging from public to private across the state. Tuition for attending a North Carolina institution will be cheaper as a resident than an out-of-state institution. Some institutions are known for certain fields of study, so make sure to take that into consideration when thinking of where to apply.

north carolina community colleges

The North Carolina community college system is one of the most extensive and best in the country, with over 60 colleges across the state. Community colleges offer a wide variety of fields of study along with numerous program studies; certificates, diplomas, transfer paths, Bachelor's degrees in conjunction with local 4 year institutions, Associate's degrees, and online programs. Community colleges typically have a minimum 2.0 weighted GPA requirement, do not require test scores, and are free to apply to. Tuition at community colleges are at large cheaper than 4 year institutions and often allow flexible schedules for students who have outside responsibilities. You are not required to only go to your local community college, but are open to attend any NC community college as many offer different courses of study to their students. Apply through CFNC.

out of state colleges and universities

You are not confined to applying and attending North Carolina colleges and universities. There are over 4,000 institutions across the U.S. available to you. Out-of-state tuition is commonly more expensive than in-state, however scholarships are still available for out-of-state students both based on need and merit. Admissions deadlines and requirements may be different than NC institutions.

Applying to these institutions can be done through the Common App, the Coalition App, and through their website.
